He is unemployed and enjoys simulating rape with prostitutes. Dinah, his wife, has recently taken a job in the city, and Ferris, feeling neglected and sensing the imminent breakdown of his marriage, has started stalking her. He decides that the only way to make Dinah need him again is to weaken her. He devises a plan that involves him raping her anonymously. The plan proves largely successful, but things become more complicated when she convinces herself that the person responsible for her sexual assault is one of her former work colleagues. Ferris and Dinahs story is, however, not entirely what it seems, or if it is it is something more besides-the birth of Culpable Realism no less: an artistic position that promotes active participation on the part of the artist in heinous and immoral activities. Can such immoral acts really be considered as genuine candidates for artistic expression? Chillingly, the answer is yes.
